An oral History class meeting 8 weeks, two hours each time, culminating in a performance of the written works...$575.00

Why is it Important?

One 6th grade student shared a happy memory from when her parents were still together;  an adult, the day her husband  of 20 years announced he was gay;  a senior remembers her wedding to a young sailor in 1942; and a young woman who has never spoken of her cousin's suicide, comes to terms with it.

How Does It Work?

Students participate in theatre classes led by BHB, where they have the opportunity to write, discuss, rehearse, and perform their unique, personalized stories. The classes also encourage social engagements and relationship-building through the sharing, collaboration, and brainstorming.

Depending on their age, students focus on a wide variety of subject-matters such as, Ages of Romance, Where I was When..., My Family, Military Memories, Turning Points, and The Me Nobody Knows.  To enhance the performances, media such as photographs, music, artwork and drawings can be used.
